Just as DC seems to be doing everything wrong, Marvel seems to be doing everything right. Marvel’s taking the Ultimate Universe, which was starting to get more convoluted that the 616 Universe, and is streamlining it. Sure “Ultimatum” is God-awful but it’s serving a noble purpose. One of the books affected by this streamlining is “Ultimate Spider-Man.” And as the X-Men and Fantastic Four titles are on their way out, USM seems to be hitting a stride. As this storyline, focusing on Venom comes to a close it seems as if Brian Bendis and Stuart Immonen have finally found their groove as a creative team. This book continues to do what it does best, blending humor and melodrama, action and dialogue in a comfortable and natural way. And the last page of this book will put a goofy grin across your face and leave you begging for more. This is the pinnacle of quality as great writing and phenomenal artwork come together to create one of the best books that Marvel publishes.
