REVIEW by Brian Fisher
Hey, kids, ever wanted to see Wolverine swear? I know I have. In this mature readers take on Wolvie, we find him on holiday in Brazil, investigating the emergence of a new mutant. What he finds is a street kid exploiting his new gift for monetary gain, a miracle healer whose powers may not be that miraculous and a gang war that he gets himself stuck in the middle of. What we get is a violent story of life in the barrio and the kill-or-be-killed mentality that comes along with it. Originally published in Europe, Saudade is a perfect example of Wolverine done right. The story is heartfelt and honest and the artwork is top notch. I don’t usually recommend Wolverine stories, but when one comes along as good as this one it’s hard not to.
