New scribe Aron Coleite jumps aboard, fresh from his stint as one of the top writers on the hit NBC show Heroes! Regrouping after the devastating battle against Apocalypse, the X-Men encounter a new adversary which seems unstoppable. To fight it, the young mutants must ask themselves: how far are they willing to go and what are they willing to take to raise their game? The answer will test the bonds and shake the team to its very core.
REVIEW by Brian Fisher
It doesn't suck anymore! It's not great by a long shot, but it certainly doesn't suck anymore. With the departure of Robert Kirkman (who must have been ingesting something bad that was effecting his ability to write a good X-Men script) and the arrival of Aron Coleite (he of "Heroes" fame) the book, from all indications is back on track. Although, and I was considering this while reading, this book just has not had the same kind of punch since Mark Millar (who launched this book with Andy Kubert) left. It seems to me that every writer since Millar has gone out of their way to make each and every X-Man an unlikeable, corrupt jerk. That works on a certain level, sure, but not for the X-Men.
