From the pages of Vampirella and Sacred Six comes Nyx, daughter of a human and the mad god Chaos himself! Nyx's mortal side has been growing stronger, troubling her with all-too human emotions. Fortunately (for her), there's still the side of her that transforms into a demon of living flame...and requires her to feed on the life force of living beings to survive. Can a half-demon find her place in our world...happiness...even love? Probably not, as she's about to get dragged into her dad's workplace problem.

There's a certain type of comic book. For purposes of the exercise, we shall call this funny book phylum, "saucy". The saucy style runs the gamut from the mostly tasteful Danger Girl all the way to the whimsically graphic Faust. Nyx #1 is a full-on saucy thing. It's certainly not Faust, but it looks like a title that will live in Sunstone and Razor's neighborhood, where the lawns are no doubt well kept. It is what it is, and if you're looking for that, it succeeds. Highly recommended for those who miss whatever Mark Beachum was drawing, those who thimk Vampirella just doesn't go far enough, and those poor souls who actually enjoy using the word variant.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
