Superman #17 (2018)

Superman #17 (2018)

$5.00
VERY FINE/NEAR MINT

Superman's new Fortress of Solitude sits in the most remote corner of the Bermuda Triangle. Constructed using Kryptonian technology far beyond anything our world knows, filled with intergalactic, pan-dimensional secrets from all over the Multiverse...how could it possibly be missing?
Date Available: 11/13/2019
BONUS REVIEW by Rick Berg

Kevin Maguire is the master of facial expressions in comics. Period. You always know who is who and how they are feeling no matter what is going on. This issue has the best Aquaman picking his ear shot you will ever see. EVER. Brian Michael Bendis is the go to guy for dialogue. Endless dialogue that becomes distracting until something super cool and actiony happens. The 2 of them joined together should be the best of both worlds... Except... This issue happens. The coloring nearly ruins the entire issue as Maguire's subtle work is nearly killed by overshadowing. Superman actually looks like he is gaining and losing weight depending on the panel. This is a terrible waste of talent for an entire issue of full of talking heads. And boy do they talk... and talk... and talk... about the macguffin of the issue but nothing happens with it. Superman just keeps talking to different people but nothing moves forward. I feel you could skip this issue and go right to #18 and never notice you missed anything, but Kevin Maguire drew it, so you know buy it anyway.

I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams
