Eisner-nominated writer Jody Houser and Witchblade artist Roberta Ingranata return for a brand new story in the 13th Doctor comic series. An epic adventure spinning off the new season starting in the new year, starring Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor. With her pals, Ryan, Yaz and Graham, the Doctor encounters a familiar foe, and it'll take a familiar face to stop them!

I really wanted to not like this book. I'm old school Docotr Who (been around since Jon Pertwee on Channel 11 but quickly got up to speed with William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton.) so when a multiple Doctor teamup is announced, I always believe that the creative minds on the title will be clever enough to throw a Colin Baker or Sylvester McCoy at me. So giving me one of the newer Doctors like David Tenant is a bit of a let down. But after reading Jody Houser's very interesting story which does reach back into Doctor Who lore, I can't stay disappointed. Taking place during the time when the 10th Doctor and Martha were shunted back into the past by the Weeping Angels, this tale reminds me of the Star Trek Deep Space Nine episode where the crew went back in time to interact with the Original Crew. It also makes me wonder while the BBC hasn't scooped her up to actually write some episodes? After what I've read here, seems like she's more than ready for the job.

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
